Designing Secondary Curriculum and Learning Strategies
Notes on Specific Assignments from Fall 06

Below you will find additional information and weblinks to documents needed to carry out specific assignments in this course.

Assignment 1

Obtain State Frameworks for your subject (see syllabus for details)

Assignment 2

Reflections on the learning environment in the pre-practicum classroom you observe

Assignment 3

Interview of the teacher about formative feedback practices in the pre-practicum classroom you observe

Assignment 4

There are many forms of technology that you can use to do something pedagogically that could not have been done as easily without the technology. Webquests are one possibility, Powerpoint presentations are another, and there are many more.

Description of assignment
  • For some examples of technology-enhanced lessons students in this course have prepared in the past, please see the links to Technology Assignments on the navigation bar at the right.
  • For a tutorial on how to create webquests, a template, and hundreds of examples of other teachers' webquests, see the SDSU Webquest Home, linked at the right.

You must format your lesson plan according to UMass Boston's official lesson plan format (linked at right and also below). As part of this assignment, you need to demonstrate that you used the backward design method to plan your unit (the planning matrix we used in class is linked below). Part of the requirements for this assignment are that you should provide accommodations or modifications in the lesson for two fictitious students in your classroom who are on IEP's. (If you are currently teaching, you have the option of instead providing written descriptions, similar to the ones I have provided, for two real students in your class on IEP's - please change the names to protect their identities, and then providing accommodations/modifications for them.)
