If you are not using frames this tutorial will be of little value and will not work properly so scroll to the top of the page and select some other area, or click here:  (Return to Introduction)

Step 1. The right-hand portion of your browser window should be split into Upper and Lower scrollable frames and you should be reading this in the Upper frame. Also you may want to maximize your browser window (800x600 or greater preferable). The Upper frame is always considered to be the "Area Under Study" and links in it will work differently from links for the same entry if it's located in the lower frame.  (Next Step)

(Previous Step) Step 2. Look at this entry for Ethics 3, Proposition 11. Now, select the E2P7 link in the Proof and notice that the referenced proposition appears in the Lower or "Reference Frame" where you can study it while keeping the "Area Under Study" in view. Try any of the other links in this Upper frame entry to see their entries in the "Reference Frame"  (Next Step)

E3: PROP. 11. Whatsoever increases or diminishes, helps or hinders the power of activity in our body, the idea thereof increases or diminishes, helps or hinders the power of thought in our mind.
Proof.--This proposition is evident from E2P7 or from E2P14.
Referenced in: E3P12,- E3P34,- E3P57,- E3P59,- E4P41,- E4P42

(Previous Step) Step 3. Select the E2P7 link in the Proof again. To view any links in the Lower or "Reference Frame" entry simply select them. Do that now for the E1A4 link. Use your browser's "Back" button at any time or select E2P7 in the Upper frame again to return to the primary reference.  (Next Step)

(Previous Step) Step 4. Now look in the Lower frame at the "PREV-NEXT-THIS-UPPER-TOP" links. Try out the PREV, NEXT and TOP links (AVIOD the UPPER link for now). The use of these links should be obvious. The THIS link simply repositions that entry to the top of the frame if you have used the scroll bar for instance.  (Next Step)

(Previous Step) Step 5. Select the E2P7 link in the Proof again. Now let's say you have been studying this entry in the Lower frame and you want to make it the primary "Area Under Study". Pressing its UPPER link will position a copy in the Upper frame. Do that now to end the tutorial or click here to:  Return to Introduction for more detail.
