Oval: WELCOME

This website presents an overview of my academic career and current activities. My career is guided by the belief that the academy should play a pivotal role in generating new knowledge to improve human conditions and that it should provide the leadership in constructive societal transformation. This philosophy provides the foundation for a career committed to understanding the causes and consequences of urban problems, to working with communities to create solutions to these problems, and to advocating for policies to support these solutions.
