Research Methods: Assignment Three, Sampling
Download this page. If this is being done as a group exercise,
class members will divide into groups. Each group will submit one
sheet of results. Write the names of each member of your sample exercise
group on the sheet. If this is being done as an individual exercise,
write you name on the sheet.
From the following list of felons select 5 using simple random sampling
procedures. Use the table of random numbers in the Appendix of
the text or from the website. Then, select five using systematic
sampling procedures. For each sample calculate the average (mean)
for age and number of prior convictions. Count the number of each type
of
drug used by the five persons in each sample. Write down the drug
most often used for each of the two samples. Transfer the results
to the table below.
