U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, G. Paul Sylvester Award, for contributions to criminal justice statistics, 1995. 
      This award was for a series of research studies on domestic violence,
      hate crime, drug offenders in county jails, drunk driving offenders.
President, Justice Research and Statistics Association, 1994-1995.

American Sociological Association Family Section, William J. Goode Book Award, for outstanding book contribution to family scholarship, 1994. 

     This award was for research on family problems and the adjustment of
     families to divorce, published as Profile of Divorce (with Gay
     Kitson).
U.S. Department of Justice. Office of Justice Programs., for contributions to the national and state criminal justice community, 1992. 
     This was for evaluations of criminal justice projects fighting drug crime
     and crimes of violence funded under the federal Byrne block grant program.
