Using the brailler

Video description: closeup of hands brailling on a Perkins brailler at a table.

The brailler should be placed on a firm surface at a comfortable height. Many individuals prefer to sit at a table, however some also find it comfortable to work with the brailler on the lap or while standing at a table or counter.

Place both hands on the six keys of the brailler. Braille the desired dot combination by pressing the corresponding keys simultaneously. The fingers will move on and off the keys as you braille. Do not flex the wrists; instead use a firm up and down movement of the entire forearm. Pressure from the weight of your arms will move the keys up and down on the brailler to emboss the cells.
