Rules:
-Collaboration
between team members is encouraged,
-The
authors should present the solution on a blank sheet with their names on it.
Members of a team should submit together.
-Solutions
should include “self-explained” diagrams/sketches, with minimal wording. Neat
presentation will count toward the problem grading.
1.-
Two waves with the same angular frequency, wave number, and amplitude ω,
k, A, respectively, but differ in a phase Ф, are to be superposed
(added). By using trigonometric identities, and doing some algebra, provide the
total amplitude as a function of Ф
2.-
Using your knowledge about (sound) waves, explain as much as you can the
physics behind the tuning of string instruments without using any electronic
devices.
3.-
Produce the interference of circular water waves from two point sources, make a
short movies clip, and submit a short movies by email with a link to youtube.
