1.- Create a block diagrams to illustrate the effects of the different modes of transportation (water, air, land, and intermodal) on the environment. Describe at least two proposals on what can be done in the future to reduce or eliminate these effects.
2.- Visit www.smart-traveler.com or http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/Trafficinfo/ , watch some live-traffic cameras. These are examples of an Advanced Traveler Information System, which uses advanced technologies to acquires environmental and traffic conditions, processing them into useful information, and delivering them to the traveler. Draw a block diagram indicating the essential elements of an Advanced Traveler Information System, use directional arrows to indicate how they are related to each other.
3.- Design a vehicle that can drive past a deep crack in the ground of about 2 feet wide (a normal passenger car cannot do this since its wheels will get stuck in the crack). Explain also the disadvantages of your vehicle. Include a computer sketch of the your vehicle.
