Remember all assignments should be typed. Use Windows Paint for drawings and sketches.

The following problems are for you to practice problem solving and idea generation. These designs should pass the “conceptual test”, i.e., after seeing the drawings, the reader can agree prototypes based on these designs will possibly work.

1.-        Research and present two alternatives to power a car in the challenge of fuel shortage, use correct technological terms. Discuss pros and cons for each alternative

2.-        Suppose you have two amplifiers that provide a gain factor of 100 each, how would you connect them to obtain a gain factor of 10000, explain with a diagram. Represent each amplifier as a rectangular box. How would you design a “regulator”, a system that can regular its output, explain with a sketch.

3.-        Design a mechanical robot hand that can pick up and later release a soda can. The robot is operated via a wireless joystick. Detailed drawings that illustrate the concepts are working are essential.

The following questions are from LabView

4.-        Write next to each of the following elements where you can get them. Use C for Controls palette, F for Functions palette, and T for tools palette. (Five wrong choices or can-not-find  allowed)
