"Terms of Engagement: Understanding the Words of War"

Transit

Are you an active or veteran member of the U.S. Armed Forces?

Do you understand words like "fobbit," "The Sandbox," "Embrace the suck," "grunt," and "The Wild West"?

Do you want to help people understand soldier experiences, from Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan?

If so, please complete an online, anonymous research survey questionnaire about the words you heard or said while serving in the military. To begin, click here.

The research is being conducted by faculty and students in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts Boston and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board.  The researchers have no affiliation with or funding from the U.S. Government.  Consent forms and additional information are available on the survey website.  Please contact the researchers at thewordsofwar@gmail.com with questions or comments, or if you would prefer a printed copy of the questionnaire.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
