The Northeast Regional Center for Vision Education

 is pleased to offer an open enrollment course on-line for Fall 2010

 

This professional development course is approved for 3 credits through the Vision Studies Programs at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Music Braille is being offered as open enrollment to Vision Professionals for continuing education or to current pre-service students within vision programs with the assurance from your academic advisor that you are prepared with the appropriate pre-requisite knowledge base. The total cost of the online course is $810. This course will begin the week of September 13th and end the week of December 6th.

This online course is designed to train participants to teach reading of elementary and intermediate level Braille music. Participants will learn music Braille notations and basic transcription rules for preparing elementary and intermediate level Braille music. Important aspects for teaching Braille users to read Braille music are covered. The use of special computer software to translate music into Braille, and sources for acquiring Braille music are reviewed. Participants are required to use a Braille editor for completing all exercises and to submit exercises in digital format.
