Menstrual Activist Materials

Fuckatampon and Anti Tampon and Bumper Sticker Credit: Patches: Kristin Garvin/Bumper Sticker: Miki Tapio Walsh and Julia D. Stewart The patches were designed and made by Kristin Garvin, a.k.a. Queen Periodia, along with various other wearable art pieces such as the infamous Tampon Tiara (a photograph of the latter made into the James Madison University college yearbook, but sadly, not here). Garvin was one of coordinators and speakers for SEAC’s Tampaction campaign and she also served as a head organizer for the Menstrual Health Conference held on the campus of James Madison University in 2000. Garvin addressed the menstrual taboo with her signature playful and creative style. The bumper sticker was made by Walsh and Stewart when they teamed up as POW: Pissed Off Womens. POW spread critical menstrual consciousness through the dissemination of their stickers, mock ads, and Walsh’s website.
